A Completely Random Post

I couldn't think of 1 particular thing to post about so I decided to have a plethora of subjects for your reading pleasure.

1st topic: I don't know if you are aware of the pandemic spreading around. No, I'm not referring to swine flu, I'm talking about Twitter. I gave in a while ago & joined because Amanda told me it was fun (& basically I just always do what Amanda tells me to do.) I pretty much only follow celebrities that I like & my friends. I don't really see the point of it otherwise. I enjoy it but I probably don't update as much as I should. I'm sure I will more when I get my CrackBerry in a few weeks & update via Twitter Berry.

2nd topic: Why is it that it's always the ugly guys that hit on you? While in AC with the girls this past weekend, we all looked pretty hot & of course it's the old ugly guys that notice & never the ones you want to notice. For example, while walking through the casino, I heard a few cat calls & whistles thrown our way & when I saw who did it, I just kept on walking. Maybe it's the hot ones who don't need to do such things because girls just flock to them like I do to a chocolate fountain at a wedding. When we went out, the dance floor was beyond crowded so I kept trying to find little open pockets of air to dance in but kept getting bombarded quickly. This one guy continued his bombardment, which he referred to as dancing & I yelled at him & said I just like to have space to dance. He then hugged me & said oh, so you don't like this? It was funny so I gave in for a dance & it was just awful. He wasn't bad looking but his dance moves were probably even too white for the KKK.

3rd topic: Sticking with the AC trend, this topic is craps! My new favorite game. I am far from a gambler but I love craps. Lauren taught me how to play & I won $60 (well technically $40 because I started out with $20, but still pretty good.) I don't know what type of techniques I used, but I was an excellent roller. Loved it so much that even after we went out, we stayed at the tables to watch others play. They no longer had $5 tables at night so we weren't willing to bet so much at a time. I don't think anyone minded that we didn't play though because they probably saw how intoxicated we were & our rolling techniques would likely not work as well.

4th topic: MIAYOOOO! I'm going to Miami this weekend & am so so so excited about it! I cannot wait to go to Sandbar & drink RBVs, as served by Johnny Gyllenhall. I will eat a Stop & Shop sandwich & maybe even Sam (Creepy Sam, not Sanko) will finally give us a free sandwich. PARTY IN THE CITY WHERE THE HEAT IS ON!

A Hyphen Team

OK so I just got back from the M-I-A & I cannot even begin to talk about how much fun this weekend was.  I saw almost all of my friends & it was just the greatest time ever! The weekend started off at the car rental & we ordered a compact car but what did we get? A convertible at no extra cost! (Of course it was raining all weekend so we were only able to use it twice). But such big shots we were...the coolest kids on campus definitely returned in style.

So Thursday we arrived & stayed at Wittle's. I had very high expectations about Thursday night & although certain hopes were not filled it overall was a super duper night. Sandbar & Moe's, like usual. Friday we went to campus, a little shopping, got a Stop & Shop sandwich...it was great. Friday night we were V.I.P. at Cabana One so we popped bottles for a while with some pretty important people. Saturday was the game, which was such a debaucherous event. It poured but luckily I had my poncho! Not only did we win the game, but we got to march out with the BAND OF THE HOUR! Then after dragging our sorry asses out to South Beach, we had probably the best night of the whole trip. It was Matt's birthday so we went to Dulce & had bottle service there & they played the best music so the dance party was fabulous. Then a Sunday at Sandbar to watch football. All my favorite things jam packed into one fun-filled weekend.

It was so good to see everyone, even people that I really didn't care all that much about seeing. The entire A-Team was also back together again & this includes not only the chipmunks but also the hyphen. Wittle was the best host ever & I don't think he reads my blog but if he does, then thank you again!! He put up with all of our antics & absurdity & never complained. We wuv you Wittle! Having the A-Team back together just made me so happy & I never wanted to leave. Mewr take me back!

The M-I-Ayo So Hot

I'm on the plane heading home, leaving Miami for good (or at least until alumni weekend). I'm so sad to be leaving because this has been such a fun year. I can't imagine my life without the Grove on Thursday nights. Nor can I imagine it without those little chipmunks. I'm going to miss palm trees and nice weather and all that stuff that goes with it, like a year round tan from the sun as opposed to the tanning salon. Despite all this, I am very excited to go home because I think this is going to actually be a really great summer. I know I say that every year but I really think this time is for real.

AB is living on Staten Island so I'm quite sure she & I will be spending most every waking moment together. We're already making plans for going to SI Yankee games & by this I obviously mean stalking them to find out where they go after the game. I love baseball boys, what can I say? Sam is also in the city so that will be more incentive for me to go there, especially since I won't have to wait around for the 4:30 ferry & not get home until 6 in the morning. That will be lovely. Lauren has a beach house in Belmar so that'll be another fun thing to do on weekends. Katy is in Brooklyn so that'll be just one more of my best friends to hang out with. So many people have been saying they will be in the city too so it should be an endless pit of fun. Timmy Tommy is there this week so it'll already be a little Miami reunion in NYC.

I'll be interning three days a week & at Holly Hill for two, so that'll give me some money in my pocket & a couple days off a week. I think at my internship I might even be able to work at Yankee games. Fingers crossed!

Summer plans for me? Get back in shape. I plan to go running/walking with Maggie at least once a week on the boardwalk. And I will work out more because I actually have incentive now. I'm considering taking a dance class too. Things to look forward to in July? Sarah's & Lizzie's graduation parties, Bill coming home & of course one of my top 10 favorite days of the year...the All-Star Game! Anyone reading this with any pull getting tickets I'd be willing to give you my first born. I'm trying to head out to the West Coast in September so hopefully that'll work out.  A two week vacation sounds fantastic to me: a week in Cali & a week in Hawaii. Then in October is Marist's Alumni Weekend first and then Miami Alumni weekend & since I am an alum of both, I obviously will be attending. That'll be the first A-Team reunion to take place. So let the countdown begin.

Miami Baseball

OK so this definitely calls for a post. Miami Baseball, I LOVE YOU! As if being the number 1 team in the country wasn't enough, several of the players will now be future Major League stars (well hopefully). I love this team. I feel bad if I miss even one game because it's always exciting & who am I to have something better to do then go to a baseball game? We always win so it's almost guaranteed to make me happy.
Today was the draft & it only added to my happiness. My favorite player on the team is Yonder Alonso, who also happens to be the same boy that I did a story on, who gave me a very prized possession & worked out with Alex in the off-season. He was the #7 pick over-all & will be playing alongside Griffey on the Reds in no time. Jemile Weeks, who has the best walk-up song of anyone was the #12 overall pick. Our closer Carlos Gutierrez (who I have also interviewed) was the final Hurricane picked in the 1st round. How crazy is that!? Three of the players on my team were drafted in the first round. My God we are amazing!
Let's not forget the 3 others who have also been drafted already.   I'm sure there will also be others.   Pretty much anyone who is draft eligible deserves to be drafted because this is such a talented group of guys.  The only thing I'm disappointed about is that the Yankees weren't smart enough to get any of them.  If we don't win the College World Series this year I'm going to be seriously upset because nobody deserves it more.  There is no other team that even comes close.  We lost 1 series this entire year, that's it!  ONE!  And it was the last series of the season against the #2 team in the country.   We lost 8 games all season.  That's compared to 50 wins. Come on, that's just ridiculous.  Yonder, Jemile & Chris Hernandez were all 1st-team All-Americans.   Hernandez is only a freshman!   So even though they may be losing a lot of their most talented, they will still be a contender again next year because the rest of the lineup is nothing to ignore.  Trust me, I know these things.

Graduation

I was just looking at away messages and got very sad.  I realized that tomorrow is the Marist graduation & I just thought about this time last year.  This is when we were all packing up & getting ready to leave.  Luckily the girls at 193 Union were still there so I didn't have to go, I stayed there. One night there & then I had a surprise outdoors date the next day with Bill.  Of course I had expected a picnic so I dressed for that occasion only to be surprised by a fishing trip. It didn't matter it was still easily one of the best days ever, only to be followed by the most depressing car ride of my life.
I miss Marist & everyone & everything that went along with it.  I miss the girls & all our insanity (although by talking to at least one of them every day makes life a little more bearable).  I miss those boys on Poplar & those boys on Spruce.  I miss Foxhole & Rennies & dancing at Hatter.  I really miss Toucans & drink-ups & walking over to Darby's.  I miss Red Fox Wraps & Garden Pizzas & Foxhole Pizza.  I miss Marist basketball games.  I miss R4 & bbqs & fun neighbors.  I miss beer pong on closet doors.  I don't miss Jager Bombs because I still do them & everyone knows this.  Every time I do one & finish before everyone, I can almost close my eyes and be taking it in Po-town.
I'm leaving Miami in a little over a month & I'm sure this time next year I'll be thinking about this graduation & how much I miss Sandbar & tailgates & baseball games.  I'm sure there will be times when I'll say that I wish I was in Miami, just as I say now that I wish I was at Marist.
People thought I was crazy when I said I never wanted to graduate but none of those people were ever Red Foxes (& probably not Hurricanes either) & none of them ever will be.  I do want to be done with Miami because the work is hard but I'm sure the plane ride home will be just as depressing as that car ride that I took one year ago.
